About Cold Stone Creamery

Cold Stone Creamery is a popular ice cream chain that was founded in 1988 by Donald Sutherland and his wife Susan Sutherland. The famous couple established the first Cold Stone Creamery in Scottsdale, Arizona.

A unique concept at the time of its founding, customers could choose from freshly made premium ice creams and mix-ins such as fruits, nuts, candy pieces and more to customize their own creations.

Since its inception over 30 years ago, Cold Stone has grown into a worldwide phenomenon with stores located across the globe in countries like Argentina, Chile and Mexico.

The company now operates almost 1,300 locations in 20 different countries throughout Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America with headquarters based out of Scottsdale.

The Sutherlands opened their first store with the goal of offering super-premium ice cream made with only the finest ingredients. They believed that quality was key when it came to great tasting treats and they weren’t afraid to go above and beyond to ensure that they had the best of the best on offer.

In order to do this, they created their own unique process known as ‘Creation Nation’ which allowed customers to customize their own ice cream creations by mixing different flavors together at an interactive station.
